Engineering & Detailing
During the Engineering & Detailing phase of the MSI Method, our detailers review the conceptual design drawings created by an engineer and/or architect for obvious visual conflicts, such as material sizes, connection requirements and weight limitations. We utilize various software packages, primarily Tekla Structures, to streamline the design process for our steel products.
MSI creates the detail drawings for the project in compliance with the requirements of the design drawings as well as all industry standards and protocols, such as those established by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and the American Welding Society (AWS). Upon approval of the design and detail drawings, our detailing division prepares the advance bills of materials.
Our detailers coordinate directly with our Clients as well as fabrication and erection teams to determine and plan the order of fabrication and erection of a project which includes the associated personnel and equipment requirements. The automated systems interact electronically with our computer numerically controlled (CNC) fabrication equipment and produce updated detail drawings, which are delivered to our field locations.
